Baptism
“Holy Baptism is the the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: ‘Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word.‘”

Registration Process
- The date intended for Baptism must be at least one month before you register.
- The parent(s) of the child must be present to register.
- Provide the original birth certificate issued to you by the state (not a copy /no exceptions)
- A $40 registration fee at the time of registration (non-refundable)
The role of a Godparent
“One to be baptized is to be given a sponsor who is to assist, together with the parents an infant at the baptism, and who will help the baptized to lead a Christian life in harmony with baptism, and to fulfill faithfully the obligations connected with it.”
–Code of Canon Law #872
Requirements for Godparents
- Must be a Catholic and have received the following sacraments: Baptism, First Holy Communion and Confirmation
- Only one male sponsor or one female sponsor OR one of each.
- Must be at least 16 years old
- If married, they must be married in the Catholic Church. (Couples living together or in a civil union are not eligible to be Godparents.)
- Cannot be the father or mother of the one to be baptized.
Required Pre-bapstismal Class
- Parents AND Godparents must attend a pre-baptism class.
- Parents AND Godparents must sign up for the class prior to attending.
- Classes are on the Friday before the baptismal date at 6pm in Room 1.
- No children are allowed in the class.
